This project is a creative illustrated adaptation of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson developed as a color illustrated album,
This illustration series is a metaphor inspired by a traditional school. The school’s rigid moral system—centered on obedience, guilt, and public shame—is reinterpreted through Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery.
The protagonist’s journey is marked by a progressive change in color, reflecting her perceived moral failure. The closer the narrative gets to the final punishment, the darker the color becomes—culminating in green, the ultimate symbol of punishment.
